“...A great woman.”

As the old saying goes. “Behind every good man is a great woman.”

That’s especially the case when it comes to this particular funeral home. Without the love, support and patience of one spectacular woman, I wouldn’t be where I am right now; doing the only thing I know how to do.  I hope she approves of how I’m handling things.

This business that I am in, the business that my father taught me, the business of funeral directing, or undertaking, is about more than caskets, calling hours and cemetery plots. It’s about more than doing only what is necessary to deal with an unfortunate situation.

Funeral Directors don’t just “arrange” funerals. This is about helping lead a grieving family in the right direction. That direction may be nowhere near where they want to go, but we do it regardless. We are here to make the initial shock of a terrible event somewhat manageable. We provide a place for a community to love and support their friends and family during their darkest hours. We can answer questions that most people don’t even think to ask.

We undertake these responsibilities because that’s what we were called to do. This is a business, yes, but it’s not about the bottom line on a balance sheet. It’s about helping people during their journey into their new life. Hopefully, at the end of the day, when the cemetery is quiet and the hearse is back in the garage, we’ve made a difference.
