Obituary of Elizabeth M. "Betty" Reynolds

CALCIUM – Elizabeth M. “Betty” Reynolds, 80, passed away in the early hours of Friday, January 25, 2019 at her home, under the loving care of her family and Jefferson County Hospice. 

Betty was born on December 17, 1938 in Degrasse, NY, a daughter of the late Melford and Lida (Tousley) Towne.  She graduated from Knox Memorial in Russell, NY.  She was employed as an Assembler for Bomax Manufacturing, retiring after 28 years. 

A marriage to Donald Ordway ended in divorce.  The couple had three children.

On July 14, 1979 she married Merle R. Reynolds in Belleville, NY. 

Betty loved traveling, camping, and word searches.  She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cross stitch.  Most of all, she loved spending time with family. 

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Merle; three daughters, Ann (Pat) Collette of Evans Mills; Debra (Mike) Miglioretto of Cheshire, OR; and Lori Ordway of Easton, PA; two stepsons, Merle (Shelly) Reynolds of Gretna, NE; and Shawn (Heidi) Reynolds of Cecil, WI; seven siblings, Richard Towne of Degrasse, NY; John (Beverly) Towne of Tuscon, AZ; Douglas (Bonnie) Towne of Florence, AZ; Donald (Mary) Towne of Gouverneur, NY; Patricia (Floyd) Cameron of Cleveland, NY; June (Jack) Briggs of Oswegatchie, NY; and Bonnie Stubbs of Corpus Christi, TX; a brother-in-law, John Pike of Russell, NY; a sister-in-law Shirley Towne of Degrasse, NY; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty is predeceased by four siblings, Barbara Pike; William Towne; Gwendolyn Harper; and Barry Towne.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Central NY Chapter at 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204; to the American Cancer Society local chapter, 6725 Lyons St, East Syracuse, NY 13057; or to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown NY 13601.

No public services will be held.  A burial will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Degrasse, New York at the convenience of the family.
