CARTHAGE – Joseph Edward Elliott, 61, of Wrape Rd., passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his home, under the loving care of his family and Jefferson County Hospice. 

Joseph was born on September 26, 1957 in Ogdensburg, New York, a son of the late Joseph Daniel and Marcella Ann (Keeler) Elliott. 

In 1977 he met Crystal Elaine Runkles.  The two married in 1984. 

He retired as a mechanic from American Wood Splitters, and enjoyed working on cars, fishing and drinking with friends.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Crystal; four children, Beau (Kristi) Elliott of Munns Corners; Susan (Richard) Howland of Carthage; Joseph (companion, Ashley Roenfeldt) Elliott of West Carthage; and Clayton (companion, Amber Wheeler) Elliott of Sandy Creek; six siblings, Debra Windover of Carthage; Jean (Dennis) O’Dett of Carthage; Merry-Jo (Vern) Hubbard of Carthage; Lori (Robert) Major of Carthage; Connie Elliott of Carthage; and Sandra Elliott of Carthage; an aunt, Barbara Shatraw of Copenhagen; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. 

He is predeceased by two brothers who passed during adolescence, Daniel and Gary Elliott, and a sister, Mary Margaret. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 1-4 PM at LundyFuneral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.  A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home Chapel at 4:00 PM with Father Donald Robinson officiating.  Burial will be held in the Spring at New St. James Catholic Cemetery, Carthage.

Memorial donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to Jefferson County Hospice, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown NY 13601.
