PHILADELPHIA – Karen Durocher, 59, of Pearl St., passed away on Tuesday evening, April 30, 2019 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.

Karen was born on February 10, 1960 in Gouverneur, New York, the daughter of Gerald Jay and Audrey (Wood) Pitts.  She attended Indian River Central School and was primarily a homemaker.

She is survived by her mother, Audrey Pitts of Philadelphia; seven siblings, Laurie Pitts of Philadelphia; Louise Pitts of Evans Mills; Katherine Young of Watertown; William Pitts of Florida; Ervin Pitts of Philadelphia; Linda Pitts of Watertown; and Rita (John) Wilm of Tennessee; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and children that, while not biological, she took under her wing and acted as a mother figure for.

Karen was known for her caring nature, taking on any child that was in need and referring to them as her own.  She loved making quilts and scrapbooks for people.  She enjoyed flowers, namely tulips, and playing cards and Yahtzee.

She enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends, and spending time with her nieces and nephews and the other neighborhood kids, too.

Karen is predeceased by her father, Gerald; a son, Nathan Dimon who passed away on May 4, 1993; and two brothers, Frank and David Pitts.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with a location to be announced.
