Obituary of Gertrude Petell

LAFARGEVILLE – Gertrude A. “Gert” Petell, 58, of Sprucedale Drive, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at her home.

Gert was born on March 27, 1961 in Carthage, New York, daughter of the late Oliver W. and Margaret L. (Blair) Petell.  She graduated from Carthage Central School and went on to work as a cook for Samaritan Medical Center for many years.

She loved playing bingo, cooking and baking.  She was known to help others when she could and most of all, she loved caring for her beloved grandchildren.

Gert   is survived by three children, Rodney N. Pryce Jr. of Cortland; Jessica Pryce of Watertown; and Dustin Pryce of Watertown; four siblings, Margaret Overton Mandell of West Carthage; Theresa (Steven) Fox of Carthage; Christine (Danny) Johnston of Carthage; and Oliver (Mary) Petell of Malone; as well as two granddaughters, Emma Pryce & Madelyn Wilson. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
