CHAMPION – Amy L. Huff, 75, 24005 Pennock Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 22, 2020 at her home, under the loving care of her family, friends and Jefferson County Hospice.
Amy was born on January 6, 1945 in Harrisville, New York, a daughter of the late Avery and Catherine (Breighton) Ford. She graduated from Harrisville Central School. On May 27, 1972 she married Carlton N. Huff in Carthage.
She worked at General Electric in Syracuse for a time. Later, she was employed as a Nurse’s Aide for the Madonna Home of Watertown as well as a Daycare Provider out of her home.
Amy loved gardening, reading, sewing, knitting and crafting. She also enjoyed travel and was a member of the Red Hats, AARP and St. James Catholic Church in Carthage.
Survivors include four children, Karen & Mike Stofka of Watertown; Laurile & Rodney “Pug” Higgins of Carthage; Sean & Barb Huff of Carthage; and Rosemary & David Wilder of Carthage; three brothers, Jack & Rose Ford of Fine; Robert Ford of Harrisville; and Harold & Sue Ford of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, Carlton who died on November 6, 2001; her parents and stepfather, Herbert Kampnich; a brother, Rodney Ford; and her fiancé and companion, John Sullivan.
Donations in Amy’s memory may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County at 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601 or to the Jefferson County SPCA at 25056 Water St, Watertown, NY 13601.
No public services will be held at this time. Burial will be in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Champion and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the summer.
