STAR LAKE – Richard “Richie” LaFave II, 54, of Star Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Gouverneur Hospital. Richard was born on January 14, 1967 in Carthage, son of Richard LaFave Sr. and Reita LaFave-Ellis. He attended Harrisville School. Richie grew up and lived in Harrisville most of his life until he found his piece of "god's country" in Star Lake. He did work of all kinds from driving bus to being a mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and riding his 4-wheeler. Richie found a new and favorite past-time when his granddaughter was born. There was not a day or minute he wasted not spoiling her and doing what Briann wanted to do. He enjoyed his work as a mechanic and was employed with Triad Electric in Maryland for a time. He is survived by his companion of over 20 years, Arleen Baldwin; his mother, Reita Ellis; his father, Richard LaFave Sr; four siblings, Bonnie (Wayne) Dunn; Tina (Pete) Jones; James (Tara) Ellis; and Michael (Katerra) LaFave; two stepdaughters, Crystal Young and Heather Church; two grandchildren, Briann Mills and Abigail Young; 12 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as several aunts and uncles. He is predeceased by his stepfather, James E. Ellis as well as several aunts and uncles. A celebration of life gathering will be held at 2:00 PM on July 10, 2021 at the home of Richie’s mother, Reita, located at 12294 State Route 812, Harrisville. Arrangements are with Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., and condolences can be made online at www.lundyfuneralhome.com.
