Obituary of Robert C. Smith

CALCIUM – Robert C. Smith, 93, of US Route 11, passed away on Monday morning, August 30, 2021 at home, under the loving care of his family and Jefferson County Hospice. Robert was born on October 27, 1927 in Theresa, New York, son of the late Roy and Mable (Williams) Smith. When he was 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he received his high school diploma. He then went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War. On November 10, 1973 he married Patricia Hamilton. Robert was employed as a milk inspector for Queens Farms in Copenhagen. His family remembers him for being meticulous about his lawn and his genuine love for family. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patricia; two sons, Robert Jr. (Kris) Smith of Chaumont and David (Sherry) Delaney of Clayton; a daughter, Debra Dunkirk of Antwerp; three granddaughters, Julie, Stephanie and Alissa and two grandsons, Kyle and Jordan; 2 great-granddaughters, Makayla and Taylor and three great-grandsons, Zachary, Lowell and Stewart. He is predeceased by three brothers, Earl, Clinton and George Smith as well as three sisters, Martha Sequin, Anna Howard and Dorothy Christy. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium where military honors will be rendered.
