I met Dick while i was doing a drywall job across the street from his house on jefferson, back in 2013. I saw him trying to get his groceries in from his car. I went over and helped him. Then sat and talked with him for quiteslme time. Impressve were his stories, as well as his spunk and vigor. I went back over a couple more times to offer my help with anything he might need. I enjoyed our conversations. I'll never forget Dick Baker. RIP, my friend.

May Richard's family and friends be comforted by God's promise to "swallow up death forever, and wipe away every tear from all faces" (Isaiah 25:8) Remembering too the promise of the Resurrection hope for both the Unrighteous and Righteous. (Acts 24:15)

Mr Baker was a customer of mine at Aldi . That's where we got to know each other . He definitely had the gift of gab !!! I think he came in so that he had people to visit with :) He told some of the best , most interesting stories . He always asked about our families and kids. I had the pleasure of making him birthday cakes a few years ( he said that he wouldn't make it till his next one cause the devil was gonna call him ) but year after year he did . I am thankful that I had the chance to know him . Rest I'm peace and fly again with the angels .

Mr. Baker and I met through Kate, and we spent some time discussing our shared military experience and our fondness for the B-17, Flying Fortress that had carried him through the Second World War.
I was proud to know him and proud of his service to our Country. I will miss him.
Rest in peace, Richard.....you have earned it.

I had the honor and privilege of meeting Mr. Baker at Country Manor. We were quick friends when he found out I'd retired from the US Army as a civilian after 38-1/2 years, and that I had two horses in the backyard. He would frequently come visit me at the front office, always asking, "How are our girls today?" - meaning the horses. I so enjoyed hearing of his Army and Air Corps experiences, as well as his many stories of growing up on the farm in Copenhagen, working for trucking companies later in life, and sharing his quick wit and kindness. He will be sorely missed, but I believe he has returned to his Rose, who he once spoke of, and for whom he still wore his wedding ring. My thoughts and prayers continue as you go through this difficult time. God Bless.

Dear Baker Family,
We are deeply sorry for your loss. Dick was a friend of the family for many years. He carried on the legacy of the old time truck drivers. We hope your memories bring you peace and comfort.
