Obituary of Dennis M. Goldthrite

WEST CARTHAGE -- Dennis M. Goldthrite, 67, 63 Madison St., died at home on Monday, November 8th, 2021 under the care of his family. Born at home in Carthage on April 21, 1954, the son of Claude & Isabelle Flint Goldthrite, he graduated from Carthage Central High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army, where he was deployed to Germany. He then served with the US Navy National Guard. He was employed by Crown Zellerbach in Carthage until its closing; he then worked for Kraft-Heintz in Lowville for almost 20 years. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and digging for antique bottles. He was very adept at using his metal detector to find many lost treasures and collectibles. He was a fan of New York Yankees baseball and Syracuse University basketball. He is survived by his daughter and grandson, Ashley Corey and Jason Corey of North Carolina, as well as his siblings and their respective spouses; Margaret Rhone, Charles & Sandra Goldthrite, Mary & Steven Backus, Patricia & Karl Blair, Patrick & Yvonne Goldthrite, Michael & Carol Goldthrite, Kathy Reynolds & Pete Shettleton and Danny & Dana Goldthrite. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, with Wayne Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Online condolences may be made at www.lundyfuneralhome.com.
