Obituary of Robert Grey Landes

Robert Landes “Bob”, 85, of Briarcliff Manor, NY and Warwick, PA., died early Friday morning, March 11, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital, with his loving wife of 62 years, Marlene, by his side. Robert married Marlene (Downing) on October 16, 1959, in Carthage, New York. Bob was born on November 28, 1936, the son of Chester and Dorothy Landes, in Boston, MA. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and later obtained his law degree from Brooklyn Law School, passing the Bar Exam. He was retired from National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Federal agencies. He thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s dance recitals, sporting events, and school activities. He also enjoyed family road trips, attending country music concerts, the annual Brockway Truck Show in Cortland, and his garden. Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene (Downing) Landes; his brother, Andrew Landes of Raleigh, NC; his sister, Emma Lou (Mac) Bryant, of Franklin, NC; daughters Lori (Bill) O’Brien, and Susan (Peter) Grimm; as well as his granddaughters Jacqueline Martin, Brittany (Tim) Plimpton, and Kellie O’Brien, great grandchildren Hallie and Justin Plimpton, several nieces, and extended family. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022, from 2:00pm-3:00pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. located at 500 State Street Carthage, NY 13619. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm in the chapel of the funeral home.A reception to follow at the American Legion Carthage, NY. Burial with a graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 11:00am in the Hillside Cemetery in West Carthage, New York.
