Obituary of Allyn F. Wheeler

COPENHAGEN- Allyn F. Wheeler, 87, of 7885 Cobb Road died peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022, in the Emergency Room at the Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville, NY. Mr. Wheeler was born on March 22, 1935, in Harrisburg, NY to the late Garrett & Gertrude (Lampher) Wheeler. He married Charlotte Sturtevant at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on July 14, 1956. Allyn served honorably in the United States Army Reserves from 1958-1962. Allyn was a heavy equipment operator for AMF and the Town of Harrisburg Highway Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and woodworking. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his family. Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife, Charlotte, Copenhagen; his children, Joanne Wheeler, Deborah Goutermout, Randy (Lori) Wheeler, Keith (Colleen)Wheeler, Tammey (Jeffrey) Lortie, and Garret (Lori) Wheeler, all from Copenhagen. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren with one on the way. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to Lewis County Search and Rescue. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of life that will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 4:00 pm that will be held at the family’s home located at 7885 Cobb Road, Copenhagen, NY 13626.
