WATERTOWN- William R. Hofbauer, 67, of 147 Palmer Street, died on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Samaritan Keep Home where he'd been residing for the past few months. He was born April 27, 1948 in Baltimore, MD to the late Clarence Grohn & Betty Marie Stottler Hofbauer. He graduated high school in Chicago and attended Ventura Community College in California.
William Hofbauer was a professional entertainer known as Bill Alexander. From 1975-1985 he worked for the Palamino Club in North Hollywood, California. He traveled North America with his band the Nashville Cats and later, played locally with bands The Mustangs and Mavericks in Carthage.
He is survived by three sons, Ricky Hofbauer, Maryland; Jesse Lee Hofbauer, California; and Joel Fox, South Carolina and by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several siblings; Clarence (Rusty) and Andrea Hofbauer, Denmark; Ricky and Tracey Alexander, Carthage; Thomas Alexander, Alaska; and MaryAnn Popoff, Florida.
William Hofbauer, aka Bill Alexander, loved to sing, play guitar, and entertain everyone around him. He was an avid ELVIS fan and loved films, country western music, gospel, and of course- his family and friends.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 12:00pm-2:00PM at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage a Funeral Service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:00PM with The Reverend Canon Samuel P.
