Obituary of Wilma M. Peck

CARTHAGE- Wilma M. Peck, 89, of County Route 47, died on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre where she was a resident for a short time. She was born on May 13, 1926 in Champion to the late William & Alice Raison Fargo. She graduated from West Carthage High School.
She married John C. Peck on September 22, 1944, at the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Charles Holcombe officiating. She and her late husband owned and operated Peck Homestead Farms, Great Bend, which has been family owned since 1802. She was the first to breed Lineback cattle in Jefferson County. Mr. Peck died July 14, 2000.
Surving are two sons and their wives, John E. and Helen, Champion; Harry W. and Anna, Deferiet; two daughters, Mary A. Peck, Canandaigua; and Barbara J. Peck, Deferiet; and 5grandchildren, Brian and Sarah Peck, Champion; John D. and Maria Peck, Champion; Cory Peck, Champion; Barry Peck, Deferiet; and Bethany Peck and her fiance Mitchell Roose, Croghan and 5 great-grandchildren.
She is predceased by her husband, and a son, Duane D. Peck, 1988, 7 brothers and 1 sister.
She was a 61- year member of the Bethany Chapter 343 Order of the Eastern Star, Black River, a member of the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Church Choir. She was a member of the Champion Grange, the 4 River Valleys Historical Society, she enjoyed sewing on her embroidery machine.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 3:00-6:00pm at The Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend, with The Pastor, Warren Fargo and The Reverand, Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Great Bend. Online condolences can be made to www.lundyfuneralhome.com
