PHILADELPHIA- Robert "BOB" Joseph LeJeune, 62, of 5 Main St., passed away early Monday, August 22, 2016 at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born on February 22, 1954 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Edward Joseph & Patricia June Jumper LeJeune. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School class of 1972. He married his wife Michelle on September 1, 1990 in Pamelia, NY.
He served with the United States Army beginning July of 1972 to January of 1983. Bob served ten years as a Tank Instructor. After his active duty, he was employed for the Department of Defense as a Supply Technician for thirty years; at Ft. Drum where he retired on February 29, 2016.
Bob devoted his spare time to the American Legion Veterans Organization as he was a PUFL member of Philadelphia Post 798 and served in many capacities throughout New York State, County and Post including: Boys State Counselor for the Department of NY, Jefferson County Boys State Chairman and Past Jefferson County Commander. He has held every office for Post 798 including several years as Post Commander. He was also a member of Squadron 798 Philadelphia. He was a member of 40/8 of the American Legion where he was a Past Grand Chapeau. Bob was also a member of The Wolcott VFW Post 7417.
He was a lifetime fan of the Green Bay Packers (Brett Farr) Ohio State Football, Notre Dame Football, The Detroit Tigers, Boston Celtics, and (Team Rouch) NASCAR. Indian River Warriors Football.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Michelle, four children; Angie L. & Nathan Newman, Freemont, OH, Julie A. LeJeune, Fremont, OH, Jeremy B. & Natashia LeJeune, Knoxville, TN, Candi J. & Jim Rupp, Freemont, OH. Also his two sisters, Cathy & David Frey, Hugo, CO, Debra & Ted Lowe, Freemont, OH, one brother, Kenneth & Kina LeJeune, Freemont, OH, brother-in-law Vernon Saylers, Freemont Ohio, sister-in-law, Micky & Jason Fulton, Rock Cave, WV, Bobs special Aunt & God Mother, Barbara Halbeisen, Freemont. OH.
Also surviving are six grandchildren; Kyle & D.J. Newman, Fremont, OH, Alexia Valle, Christine and Brandon LeJeune, Knoxville, TN, and Elika Mae Rupp, Fremont, OH, special niece and nephew, Skylar & Tristan Fulton, Rock Cave WV, and Jeannie & Christin Da Silva, Ft. Wainwright Alaska. Many other nieces, nephews and cousins and his best friends; Al Carlton, Cape Vincent, NY and Dave Garish, Antwerp, NY, and, close family friend, Amy McEathron, many other friends his pets, Crickett & Sassy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward & Patricia LeJeune, Sister Mary Saylers, dearest friends Michael T. Boucher and Albert Benware.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:30am with a Catholic Memorial Service, then the American Legion Family Ceremony, ending with Military Honors, the Rev. Christopher Looby, officiating at the Philadelphia American Legion Post #798, located at 58 Main Street. There will be Calling Hours and a luncheon to follow at the legion.
