COPENHAGEN -- Robert "Digger" Ashley, 56, 1542 County Route 194, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at home under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice. Born on July 31, 1960 in Watertown, the son of Robert and Shirley Brown Ashley; he attended Indian River schools. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Cunningham Excavating, based out of Cazenovia. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also was an excellent cook and enjoyed riding motorcycles. Robert is survived by his companion, Shelly VanBrocklin, his children; Robert Ashley III, Paul Delaney, Misty Ashley Kinch, Jacob Cipriana and Cassidy Davis. Also surviving is his sister and her husband, Dorothy & Michael Schneider, his nephew Christopher Schneider and 5 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016 at the Northridge Cremation Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home, 31291 Town Line Rd., Philadelphia, NY with the Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy officiating. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home prior to the service, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or Hospice of Lewis County. Online condolences may be made at www.lundyfuneralhome.com
