CARTHAGE- Anna Mae Higgins, 80, formerly of 222 State St. Apt. 402 died on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.
Born in Antwerp on February 21, 1936, the daughter of Charles & Irene Hubbard McDermid; she attended Carthage High School. She worked as a tester for the former Sherwood Medical in Watertown. She married Walter J. Higgins on June 7, 1958. Mr. Higgins died in 2000. Anna Mae enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, visiting the casino, playing bingo, going on cruises and shopping.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Violet & Scott Christman, Mary & Ted Trudeau, Marquetta & Dy Diaz, Peggy & Doug Halladay and Rodney "Pug" & Laurile Higgins along with 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings; Paul McDermid, Pauline Ballargeon and Wally McDermid, all of Carthage and her sister in law, Lillian McDermid.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, with the Deacon Richard J. Staab, officiating. Burial will be held privately.
