Obituary of Randy Sawyer

Champion- Randy W. Sawyer, 60 of Champion, passed away on February 16, 2017 at his home with his lifelong companion Joyce Farrell, and their two Labrador retrievers Jack and Maggie Mae Sawyer by his side. Born June 3rd in Watertown, NY, The son of John & Joyce Davis Sawyer. He is survived by his companion Joyce, her daughter Tara, and their Grandchildren Mia, Elijah, and Aliyah, his identical twin brother Ricky (Nancy) of Philadelphia. He is also survived by two sisters Rebecca (Mark) Priestly of Evans Mills and Cathy (Rick) O'Hara of Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews. Randy graduated in 1974 from Carthage Central School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1977. He worked for a time at Tug Hill Construction and for the last 20 years as a helicopter mechanic at Fort Drum. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother Ricky and his nephew Thomas. He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew Scott Priestly. Donations can be made to the SPCA of Jefferson County and Hospice of Jefferson County. A celebration of life will be held at the EMFD following the service. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Evans Mills United Methodist Church: 8668 Church St, Evans Mills, NY 13637. Celebration of life will immediately follow at the Evans Mills Fire Hall. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street, Carthage, NY 13619
