CARTHAGE -- Margaret Ann “Peggy Sue” (Burke) Thesier, 54, 20181 County Route 45, passed away on August 10, 2017 at her home after a long fought battle against cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 21, 1962 in Lowville, to James and Helen (Berrus) Burke, she graduated from Lowville Academy in 1980.  She formerly worked as an LPN at Lewis County General Hospital.  Peggy married Michael F. Young of Lowville in 1985, later earning her Paralegal Degree from Utica College. She worked as a paralegal for 8 years at The Young Law Firm.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard, whom she married on December 29th, 2001. Together they operated Thesier Tax & Accounting Services and a successful payroll business.

Over 25 years, they built a beautiful family, with seven children, Matthew (Lydia) Young, Mollie Young, Meredith (Addison) Sullivan, Emily (Kyle) Miller, Danielle Thesier, Kelli Jo (Michael) Guyette and Christopher (Hollie) Thesier, as well as four beloved grandchildren, Jaden, Carter, Maggie and Declan.

She is also survived by her siblings, William (Patricia) Burke, Janet (Paul) Manzer and Christine (James) Freeman as well as several nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents, James and Helen Burke and daughter, Melinda Young.

Peg was very active in the local community; she was a patron of St. James Catholic Church, Carthage, a member of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce, the Bassett-Baxter Post #789 American Legion Auxiliary and the Women’s twilight golf league at Carlowden Country Club.

Raised on a dairy farm on Tug Hill, she acquired a love for the outdoors. She was often found gardening, tending to her horses, picking leeks and enjoying her “Farm” on County Route 45.

Peggy brought people together through her cooking and love of entertaining; she enjoyed traveling and spending time at her condo in Florida.  Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Her greatest pride was rooted in the success of her children and her deepest love was for her grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Pastor, officiating.
