Obituary of Barbara J. Peck
DEFERIET – Barbara J. Peck, 64, of Riverside Drive, died Monday night, October 2, 2017 at Carthage Area Hospital.
Barbara was born on February 10, 1953 in West Carthage, a daughter of the late John C. and Wilma M. Fargo Peck. In 1971, she graduated from Carthage Central School. She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Jefferson Community College in 1973. She was employed by the Army Air Force Exchange Service at Fort Drum for 25 years, retiring at age 50. Barbara then worked part-time at the Coffeen Street Kinney Drugs in Watertown for 13 years.
Barbara was a member of Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir. Since 1972, she was a member of Bethany Chapter #343 Order of The Eastern Star, Black River. She was also a lifetime member of the 4 River Valleys Historical Society.
She is survived by two brothers, John E. and his wife Helen Peck of Carthage; Harry W. and his wife Anna Peck of Deferiet; a sister, Mary A. Peck of Canandaigua; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and grand-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Duane D. Peck, who died in 1988.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 1-4 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman and Pastor Warren Fargo officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Great Bend. Donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church, PO Box 189, Great Bend, NY 13643-0189.
