CARTHAGE - Candace E. “Candy” Babcock, 61, of Astafan Lane, died on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse where she had been a patient for a few days.   

She was born on May 26, 1956 in Lyons Falls, NY, a daughter of the late Charles B. and Christina M. Babcock Miles.  She graduated from Carthage Central High School in the Class of 1975.   She worked for the James River Paper Co. for 20 years, before working for Kraft in Lowville until retirement due to health issues.  She was previously married to Rick Babcock. 

She is survived by two sons, Eric (Danielle) Babcock, Philadelphia, NY; Lance Babcock, Watertown, NY; a sister, Pamela J. (Terry) Babcock, Georgia; and two brothers; Timothy J. (Rita M.) Miles, Norway, ME; Richard A. (Sherry) Miles, Mechanic Falls, ME.  She is also survived by an aunt, Donna Davis, Carthage; an uncle, Donald Babcock, Florida; an aunt, Ruth Meyer, Castorland; an uncle, Michael Babcock, Florida; as well as eight nieces, five nephews and several cousins.  She also leaves behind her best friends; Kathy Britton and Cheri Schroy as well as her two grand puppies; Krypto and Jagger.

She is predeceased by four brothers, Randolph, Thomas, Charles and Terrance Miles.

There will be a Memorial Service at the Bassett-Baxter American Legion Post #789, Carthage on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00 PM.  Donations in Candy’s memory may be made to the Carthage Food Pantry, which she previously volunteered for, at PO Box 566, Carthage, NY 13619 or The American Heart Association, PO Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220-3049
