Obituary of Alfred J. Corey
COPENHAGEN – Alfred J. “Jim” Corey, 75, of Grove Street, died on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Carthage Area Hospital.
Alfred was born on January 20, 1942 in Carthage, New York, a son of the late Burtis and Blanche (Bridge) Corey. He attended Carthage Central School. He retired from Climax Manufacturing in Lowville. On June 18, 1988 he married Peggy Hoage at their home in Copenhagen.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and puttering in his garage. He was a handyman who loved fixing things. He also enjoyed camping, enjoying his wife Peggy’s home-cooked meals, and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy; two sons, Howard (Barb) Corey of Turin; Neal (Sue) Corey of Copenhagen; a daughter, Christine (Nic Aman) Corey of Wilmington, North Carolina; a step-son, Ronnie (Rhonda) Munoz of Lyons Falls; three step-daughters, Melissa (Tim Green) Stanislawski of Connecticut; Brenda Munoz of Watertown; Jennifer Munoz of Watertown; a brother, Burt (Sandy) Corey of Florida; and a sister, Donna Christian of Missouri; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many neices, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 10-1 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. There will be a memorial service immediately following in the Funeral Home Chapel.
