Obituary of Charlene S. Files
GREAT BEND – Charlene S. Files, 72, passed away on Thursday morning, January 18, 2018 at home, under the loving care of her family and Jefferson County Hospice. She was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2017.
Charlene was born on February 16, 1945 in Watertown, New York, a daughter of the late Charles and Viola Brass. She graduated from General Brown Central School. On November 22, 1963 she married Ronald Files in Felts Mills, New York. Charlene worked in the cafeteria at Carthage Central School District for over 40 years. There, the children and the staff became like family to her. She recently retired in June of 2017.
Charlene enjoyed needlepoint and knitting, and she had a strong unconditional love for her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ronald Files; a son, Jeffrey (Laurie) Files of Great Bend; two daughters, Katherine Files Secor (Michael Parks) of Deferiet; Christine (Wes) Warren of Evans Mills; a sister, Edith Snyder of Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown; two grandsons, Justin Hansen of Evans Mills; Derek Hansen of Theresa; two granddaughters, Richelle Secor of Smyrna, Georgia; Breanna O’Connor of Watertown; and two great-granddaughters, Aubreigh Grace Hansen and Avarie Rose O’Connor. Charlene is predeceased by a sister, Lois Kizzer, as well as a brother, Harold Brass.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 3-6 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Per the family’s wishes, there will be no public funeral service.
