Obituary of Helen J. Fargo

West Carthage- Helen J. Fargo, 90, of 40 N. Broad Street died on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice of Jefferson County.  She was born on April 8, 1927 in Watertown, NY the daughter of the late Leon H. & Blanche E. Smith Stott.  She graduated from High School in West Carthage furthering her education at the Watertown School of Commerce.

She was a secretary for the Carthage Central School District retiring in the late 80’s and her favorite job was being a housewife when her children were younger. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She married the love of her life Allen G. Fargo on June 5, 1946 in Carthage. They both were members of the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend, where she was the Church Historian.  She was a member of the 4 River Valleys Historical Society Club.

She is survived by several children: David and the late (Dorothy) Fargo, Carthage; Carol (Larry) Archer, Florida; Judy (Jack) Carroll, Pennsylvania; and Cathy (Paul) Siedlecki, Carthage. She is also survived by 10- grandchildren and 21- great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Allen George Fargo, he died on December 19, 2006 and 2- grandchildren, Cory & Tommy Caroll and her daughter -in -law, Dorothy Fargo.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 10:00am-11:00am at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00am with The Reverend Frances Hemstreet, officiating. Burial will be private following the funeral in the Black River Cemetery. Family has requested for everyone to go directly to the American Legion Post #789 in Carthage for a luncheon following the service.
