Obituary of Douglas Charles Ward

CARTHAGE – Douglas C. “Bubba” Ward, 69, 33890 Jackson II Rd., died Wednesday evening, January 31, 2018 at home, under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

 

Born in Carthage, on June 30, 1948, the son of Douglas C. and Evelyn Johnson Ward.  He attended local schools and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, from 1968 – 1970.  He married Linda L Davis in Carthage on December 19, 1970.  Doug worked as a plumber for 41 years; he was employed by Bush & Perfetto in Carthage for 21 years and by Fort Drum for 20 years.  He enjoyed fishing and playing shuffleboard and darts.  He was a life member of the Dionne-Rumble VFW Post #7227, Carthage and a Benevolent Member of the West Carthage Fire Department.

 

He is survived by his wife, Linda, at home and his sons; Jeffrey A. Ward and his wife, Marcy, Lowville, Ronald R. Ward and his fiancee Molly Manuel, Natural Bridge, Jason L. Ward, Lowville and Michael Smith, New Hampshire.  Also surviving are his sibling and their spouses; Karen & Lynn Burke, Susan & Walt Guidak, Debbie & Mike Prievo, David & Pauline Ward, Kevin Ward and Penny & Allen Rivers, along with his brothers in law; Richard & Kathy Davis and Frank & Billie Jo Davis, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

Doug is predeceased by his brothers, Dale Ward and Scott Ward.

 

Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 12:00 – 5:00 PM at Tom & Geri’s restaurant, Route 3 in Great Bend.  Online condolences may be made at www.lundyfuneralhome.com
