Obituary of Dorothy Schack

CARTHAGE – Dorothy Jean Schack, 67, 433 Sherman St., died Saturday morning, January 24th at home, under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Born on July 12, 1947 in Lowville, the daughter of Stanley "Red" & Genevieve Waligory, she was the youngest of five siblings. She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1965. She married Lynn Schack on December 10, 1971. She was employed by Renzi Brothers, Watertown and also Marra's Home Care, for 16 years until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had many hobbies, including sewing, quilting, baking with her grandkids and tending to her flower garden . She is survived by her husband, Lynn and their children and their spouses; Dawn & Stephen Peck, Alan Schack, Mark & Polly Schack and Lynn Jr. & Jennifer Schack. Also surviving are two sisters, Rose LaForce and Maryann Becker, along with her grandchildren; Elisha, Kristina, Jonathan, Jensen, Troy, Noah, Joshua, Slater, Loryn, Catherine, Hayle and Caitlyn. She is predeceased by her brothers, Bernard "Boo" Waligory and Peter Waligory. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, January 29th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
