COPENHAGEN- Warner St. Louis, 76, 8380 Woodbattle Rd., died on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, where he had been a patient for several days.
He was born on March 19, 1938 in Carthage, the son of Alexander J. & Margaret Jones St. Louis. He attended Copenhagen Central School. He married Martha J. Wheeler on June 7, 1958 at the St. Mary's Church in Copenhagen with the Rev. Earl Nichols, pastor, officiating. After their marriage they worked at the Vincent Jones Farm, Copenhagen. In 1964 they moved to the Woodbattle Rd. where they worked on a farm owned by the late Arthur and Leona Lanpher, they purchased the farm in 1981 and operated it until February 1989 when the barn burned to the ground. Warner was then employed by Kraft Foods in Lowville where he worked as a Line Technician until his retirement in 2003. After retirement he continued to assist local farmers.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, Copenhagen; two daughters; Vicky (Carl) Marilley, Carthage and Penny (Kelly) O'Dell, Copenhagen, two sons, Douglas (Dawn) St. Louis, Copenhagen and Arthur "Spike" St. Louis, Syracuse and six-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers; Robert St. Louis, North Carolina and Kenneth St. Louis, South Carolina, 5 sisters; Joan Davis, Lowville, Karen Davidson, Redwood, Maryanne Langevin, Carthage, Linda Intorcia, Carthage and Shirley Nevills, Copenhagen, a brother-in-law, Hubert Scanlon, Carthage, a sister-in-law, Shirley St. Louis, Carthage and many nieces and nephews.
Three brothers; Richard, Hebert, and Alan and a sister Grace Scanlon are all deceased.
He was a 51 year active member of the Copenhagen Fire Department, a longtime member of the Northern New York Officials Association and served as an official for Firematic drill and parade events. He was a member of the Jefferson and Lewis County Fire Police Associations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, shuffleboard and wood-working projects and playing cards.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Copenhagen Chapel located at 10229 Washington St., Copenhagen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Copenhagen Fire Department with The Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy, officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Copenhagen. Members of the Copenhagen Fire Department will serve as bearers. Fire Service personnel attending are invited to wear uniforms. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc.
